Hi girls!
I was totally inspired by So You Think You Can Dance, so I started taking a modern dance class and have found that it’s great for developing flexibility and adding more movement into my day.
We start class with dynamic stretching of our neck, back, and legs. Then, we move onto balance poses, crossing the floor, and practicing our dance number. Modern dance makes me feel free-spirited, energetic, and confident. It empowers you to let go of fear or embarrassment through improvisation and performances in front of an audience.
Also, if you want to grow more flexible, but find yoga boring, dance class is a great alternative!
Although my class is focused on learning choreography and not on high-intensity cardio, there are many dance fitness options you can try out at your school, gym, or on DVD such as:
Zumba
Belly dancing
Bollywood
Hip-hop
Jazzercise
Dance Aerobics
Latin dance
